Turnkey systems?

Some people don’t want to build their own carputer. Heck — I didn’t want to build my own carputer. But I knew that what was available didn’t do everything I wanted it to.

Well, that may be changing. The “Navigation system” craze has placed carputers in the spotlight. And lots of do-it-yourselfers are turning to producing turnkey systems so others don’t have to build it themselves.

I was asked this week to build an industrial system for school buses (not an entertainment system, but a logistics tracking device). I think this thing over at Kontron may be the right chassis. Looks expensive, though.

But for end users like me who just want an entertainment system, there’s there are companies like CarCPU who are filling the gap. Also, Xenarc has some under-seat things

What about people like me who want to build the thing but don’t know which decisions to make? I mean, you can spend months at mp3car.com researching this stuff. I did. And I made some wrong choices. I made plenty of wrong choices.

I think I’ll write an eBook. It will answer all your questions about how to build the system, how to include some features and leave some out, how to decide where to place it, things to avoid and things you must do. If only I had time…

For now I’ll just put all that information on this web site. Enjoy it for free… while you can. :-)
