Touchscreen death! Oh no!

Eek! My touchscreen died. Someone tripped over the cable, so I think maybe it broke a wire. I’m trying to get the cable replaced, but it’s not going well so far. I’m in a race to see if I can get a new cable or repair the old one first.

The cable in question is for the Lilliput 8″ monitor. I guess it’s the same as for the 7″ monitor. It has a VGA and a USB pigtail on one end and a 9-pin DIN on the other. The VGA works fine; the USB does not.

It’s possible that something is broken inside the monitor. There was a nut loose in there that I put back in place, voiding the warranty, I suppose, in the process. :-( The nut wasn’t anywhere near a cable, so I don’t think the yank is what knocked it loose. Maybe just vibrations in the car.

I didn’t see any damage inside the monitor. I did see a familiar-looking daughterboard for USB Touchscreen control. I didn’t compare it with this photo, but the interfaces are the same-ish. I wonder if this would help.

Hey! I found a page with all the pinouts. Hopefully it matches what mine is like.
