Flowers Fast, from FlowersFast.com — A lesson in great customer service

A friend of mine was in the hospital in Texas having surgery. I called to check up on him afterwards and spoke to his wife. He wouldn’t be speaking on the phone for another day or so. Since I couldn’t talk to him directly, I decided to send him flowers. Guys sending guys flowers — weird, huh? But this is my best friend, and he’ll dig ‘em.

So I went over to my favorite online florist and ordered a nice “Get well” set of flowers. This is the same florist I always use to send Mother’s Day flowers and so on, and I’ve never had any problems. Until today.

I ordered the flowers at about 5:30pm on Monday. I even got to pay with PayPal (I love this florist!). Tuesday afternoon I got a note from FlowersFast.com saying, “We attempted delivery today right before noon and just missed him. We will deliver to the home address in the morning.”

Now — that’s pretty good service! I didn’t know there was even a human behind the scenes at FlowersFast.com; I assumed they were just an FTD affiliate. But here they are giving me details of the delivery attempt and everything. Well, maybe they are an FTD affiliate or something after all. But the customer experience from my point of view was superb. Thanks, FlowersFast!

ps. Yes, the flowers did arrive early Wednesday morning at his home address. And he loved them. He even called and told my wife that they definitely weren’t gay.

Be aware that the magic of a quick deliver happened not because of Flowers Fast but because of the local florist on the other end. They are are ones who made the magic happen. Flowers Fast is just the middle man.
